Dear Family and Friends,
Barry made the comment that today marks the fifth month since Ryan's accident. We never would have guessed then that Ryan would be participating in the Colorado Colfax Marathon with four other runners from the staff at Craig this morning. Ryan wheeled his manual chair through downtown Denver along with Justin for three miles of the 26.2 mile race. He did awesome even on the uphill slopes. It was so great to see him out there participating and enjoying it so much!
Yesterday, a group of Craig residents went to a huge park close by called Washington Park where they took turns riding hand cycles. It sounds like they had a blast and came home with sun tans and sore muscles.
It's hard to believe Ryan will be leaving Craig in just four days. I know it will be bittersweet for him and also for our family. We have all grown to love the staff and other patients here. It's almost 11:00pm and Ryan is in Candice's room with four other patients . . . sometimes it reminds me of being in college. They are all such a great support to each other.
We are looking forward to the next phase of Ryan's life – going to college at BYU and continued out patient therapy in Utah. Thank you again for all of your prayers on our behalf.
Today, Marcy Gardner came to visit us. She always makes us laugh! She taught in Relief Society and I'd like to share a quote she used in her lesson.
